FAQS
What is RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a Survival Through Sorcery game set in the RuneScape universe. Discover the lost continent of Ashenfall and rise from noob to dragon-slaying hero. Adapt, overcome, and survive in a breathtaking, hand-crafted fantasy open world—whether playing solo or with up to 3 friends.
Where can I play RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
You can play RuneScape: Dragonwilds exclusively through Steam, on PC.
What does Early Access mean?
In short, it means the game is still being actively developed, but you can play now to provide feedback/suggestions to help shape the final release. For more info, check out this support article!
Why Early Access?
We're committed to making RuneScape: Dragonwilds a community-driven game that players want to come back to again and again. The best way to make a game we know fans will love, is to make it with them! We're bringing players along for the journey. RuneScape games have always been better for community voice being at it's heart, and we're taking that same mindset in listening to the community from day one. We're very excited to see where our community collaboration can take us in the coming months and years with RuneScape: Dragonwilds!
What is the current status of the Early Access version?
In Short: the Early Access version of the game contains the first few regions, survival systems, RuneScape Skills as well as magic survival spells, gear to craft, a robust building system, challenging combat, dungeons to delve, the first Dragon (the terrifying General Velgar!), creating a blend of Survival and RuneScape. This is just the beginning, with more content, features, skills, and expansions to the map planned throughout Early Access!
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
We plan on continuing to add more systems, Skill Spells and entire skills to deepen your experience within RuneScape: Dragonwilds. With additional content such as new Skills to level, new quests to complete, new enemies to fight as well as new seasonal events, resources to craft with, and vaults to uncover there'll be plenty to explore and enjoy, alone or with friends.
How long will the game be in Early Access?
As long as it takes! Our current estimation is that the game will be ready to leave Early Access in early 2026, but we want to spend the time to get everything right to make sure that our players get a complete, satisfying experience that you'll want to revisit with friends again and again.
Will the game be priced differently after Early Access?
Yes - once the game leaves Early Access access, we will be increasing the price to represent the whole, completed product. We will not be charging players for updates added to the game during Early Access, but may release post-launch content as Paid DLC in the future. For now, our priority is making the most of our time in Early Access!
Will my progress be wiped when RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves Early Access?
We're endeavoring to avoid wipes whenever possible; this includes updates and our eventual full release.
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
We've run a number of closed Alpha tests with players from all over the globe, and the results have been amazing. That feedback was fundamental in helping us refine the experience for Early Access and we aim to continue working alongside our community. We will be gathering feedback from our Discord server, the Steam forums, and our social channels, which will not only fuel improvements and quality of life, but new features, skills, and more. We want to hear from you, so please join us on any of the above and let your voices be heard.
Where's all the RuneScapey-ness?
The world of RuneScape is massive - 25 years of content is an enormous wealth of history to try and get into RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Our team are a small, passionate group of fans who are trying to do justice to the content we all love, bringing it to life in our game by drawing from both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape's styles. We're taking our time to research, listen and do our best to bring iconic pieces of Gielinor's history to life, but also making sure we don't compromise on our vision for what we want Ashenfall to look like as we continue to grow!
Will RuneScape: Dragonwilds have MTX?
Our only interest at this stage is to work on the game with players during Early Access. The game will be a one-time purchase on Steam. If we want to add more expansions after our full commercial launch, these would be Steam DLCs. We've got no plans beyond that.
When will dedicated servers be available?
We're working on the core gameplay experience before we develop dedicated server functionality, though we're hoping to establish fully dedicated servers closer to our full release.
Can I mod RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
We're open to the idea of modding, within reason. We're working with our team to develop and publish a full guideline on our modding policy in line with the EULA for RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
Is RuneScape: Dragonwilds coming to console?
We'd love to bring RuneScape: Dragonwilds to console at some point in the future but we can't give an estimated timeframe as to when.
Is RuneScape: Dragonwilds coming to Mac?
We don't currently have any planned dates to release onto Mac platforms.
Is RuneScape: Dragonwilds playable on Steam Deck?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds may be officially playable on Steam Deck at some point in the future, but it's not our main focus right now.
I've encountered a bug, issue or something that just doesn't seem quite right. What do I do?
Whilst we're striving to provide the best experience possible, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is in Early Access, meaning you may encounter bugs or technical issues. This is because the game is still in active development.
Rest assured we are working hard to identify and resolve issues as quickly as possible. If you do encounter a bug/issue that doesn't appear to be already known (or you have more info to provide about a known bug/issue) please submit a bug report!
